Steve Curd, General Manager
Steve joined Global Care Quest and KARL STORZ in 2009, bringing a distinguished reputation for building successful, customer-focused health care technology organizations.
As the Chief Operating Officer of Healtheon / WebMD, Mr. Curd helped lead the company's unprecedented growth and built an organization that introduced high-value, innovative technology solutions to virtually all aspects of the health care industry nationwide. It was at WebMD that Steve honed his intense focus on customer satisfaction, and a drive to deliver innovative, reliable solutions to the market.
More recently, Mr. Curd served as the Chief Executive Officer of VantageMed Corporation, a public company that developed and supported Practice Management solutions and services for health care providers. Under his leadership, VantageMed significantly improved its products, its levels of customer satisfaction, and the fiscal health of the company. VantageMed was successfully acquired in 2007 as a profitable and growing company.

Earlier, Mr. Curd served in successful executive roles at United HealthCare, CIGNA, and American Airlines. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and undergraduate degrees in Physics and Mathematics from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.
Dr. Neil Martin, Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder
Dr. Neil Martin co-founded GCQ, and currently serves at its Chief Medical Officer. In this capacity, Dr. Martin provides the expert clinical guidance necessary to ensure that all of our products are clinically appropriate, highly cognitive, and immediately useful in the “real world” of medicine. Dr. Martin also serves as a Professor, and the W. Eugene Stern Chair of Neurosurgery at the UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital in Los Angeles, California. His additional roles include Head of the UCLA Stroke Center and Director of the Aneurysm and AVM program. Dr. Martin specializes in the research and treatment of neurovascular disorders, including arteriovenous malformation, aneurysm and stroke.
Under Dr. Martin’s leadership, the UCLA Neurovascular Program has become recognized as one of the leading centers in the world for the management of vascular disease of the brain and spinal cord. Over the past ten years, Dr. Martin and his team have collaborated with colleagues in interventional neuroradiology and stereotactic radiosurgery to treat more than 2,000 patients with central nervous system vascular disorders including aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and carotid and intracranial atherosclerosis. The Global Care Quest technology has been a significant contributor to this team’s success.
Dr. Martin’s awards include the Good Housekeeping List of Best Stroke Doctors, one of the "Best Doctors in America" (Neurosurgery, Neurovascular Surgery) since 1997, he is listed in Castle Connolly "America's Top Doctors" Editions 3-7 (current), and can be seen frequently on “The Doctor’s TV”.
Farzad Buxey, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
Farzad Buxey is responsible for the architecture and future of the GCQ platform & products and seeking technology synergies across the KARL STORZ Global Team. He provides technical vision to fulfill the company’s strategic plan and the needs of its customers.
As Director of NeuroInformatics, Department of Neurosurgery at the UCLA-Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Mr. Buxey is charged with bringing technology to assist the strategic, clinical and research goals of the faculty and staff.
In addition to running IT for Neurosurgery, Mr. Buxey has been the chief systems architect for numerous multi-center, multi-site, NIH and DOD funded clinical trials, including the Brain Injury Research Center (BIRC), Specialized Program of Transitional Research in Acute Stroke (SPOTRIAS) and Hypopituitarism after Moderate and Severe Head Injury.
With his many years of experience in building GCQ ‘s Command and Control solutions, and various clinical and research systems used at UCLA, Mr. Buxey brings a rich experience in scalable systems that are high performance, and architected for streamlined implementation and support while positioning it for flexible growth. Before coming to UCLA he worked with Datapro Services, India, creating and deploying the first X.400 based e-mail system.
Farzad received his master's in computer sciences from California State University, Fresno and his undergraduate in computer engineering from Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, India
Mark Heinemeyer, Executive Director
Mr. Heinemeyer became intrigued with GCQ’s Clinical Command & Control solutions in the course of his broader work in healthcare information and technology. “I found [in GCQ] a remarkably elegant use of technology to quickly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of medicine while simplifying life for physicians.” Mr. Heinemeyer formally joined the company in 2010.
Having served as a senior executive with a division of Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), he appreciates the challenges facing healthcare executives and clinicians. Mr. Heinemeyer has also held positions as Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, Executive Vice President and President/CEO with such companies as Fiserv, CCN and CorVel Corporation.
Mark was recently affiliated with Best Doctors, Inc and serves on select healthcare advisory boards. His specialties include solution integration, product development and channel / sales optimization.
Summer Bond, Director of Sales & Marketing
Ms. Bond joined Global Care Quest in October 2006 with extensive experience in the healthcare IT industry working with pioneers in the deployment of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for hospitals. Before focusing her career in the area of information systems, Summer worked in the clinical environment as a Histologist in the Pathology department.
Frustrated with tools that claimed to optimize workflow, but that instead disrupted physicians’ cognitive processes, Ms. Bond was eager to work with a leading edge healthcare technology company capable of delivering meaningful solutions to real problems faced by clinicians.
